She now lives with her muggle-born aunt, muggle uncle, witch sister, and wizard brother in a townhouse in London after her parents died in a tragic car accident a few years back. Laney is short for Elizabeth. She is named after her great-grandmother Elizabeth Puller. She is very smart and is often made fun of for that very reason. All of her friends are sad to see her go to a new school, though they have no idea what school. Her best friend Elyse has also been invited to Hogwarts.

She then yelled "YOU STUPID FROG!" and POOF! her sister turned into a frog. The other time was when her aunt, Melissa, and uncle, Mark, found her floating 6 feet off the ground after she had woken up from a nightmare. Her family thinks that after the frog accident, since Cadence had been attacked by magic (and most likely infused with it), she would likely turn out to be a witch.
